Job Overview & Essential Functions

Murphy-Hoffman Company, LLC is North America’s largest Kenworth truck dealership group and leasing group. As MHC continues to grow, we have an opening for a Support Manager. The primary function of this position is to coordinate and manage the user support staff to ensure that system downtime is minimized, and that each user is receiving adequate and timely support from the staff. Secondarily, this position is also responsible for ensuring that periodic operational tasks are completed as required, including system and network backups. 

  • Responsible for managing and coordinating the activities of the User Support Staff and 24x7 after-hours support.
  • Makes certain that backup procedures are being followed for the AS/400, Data Centers and remote branch locations.
  • Responsible for documenting configurations, system setups, security policies, support procedures and other pertinent information regarding the hardware infrastructure of the systems and networks within the MHC ISO9000 system.
  • Responsible for making sure that each call for support is properly documented using the Altiris System for report tracking and management and analyzing call data.
  • Recommends infrastructure and support improvements to enhance operational efficiencies to the Director of Technology and Architecture.
  • Responsible coordinating the addition and changes of hardware and software as well as producing accurate hardware and software asset inventory lists on a monthly basis.
  • Evaluates the technical training needs for users and makes recommendations as needed.
  • Perform duties and responsibilities of the Support Technician as required.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Qualifications
  • Excellent personnel management skills.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Excellent project management skills.
  • Previous management and/or supervisor experience is preferred.
  • Demonstrated understanding and technical proficiency on IBM iSeries, Windows PCs, and Cisco Networks including LANs, MPLS WANs, TCP/IP and Wireless.
  • Excellent Windows Desktop and Windows Server skills.
  • Familiarity with BlackBerry Enterprise Server, VMWare vSphere, SANs and Cisco Web and E-Mail filtering products preferred.
  • Experience using Altiris for Helpdesk, purchasing and inventory.
