Murphy-Hoffman Company, LLC is North America’s largest Kenworth truck dealership group and leasing group. As MHC continues to grow, we have an opening for an Enterprise Desktop Engineer. The Enterprise Desktop Engineer is responsible for maintaining the desktop computer environment by providing hardware and software system support, identifying system improvements, upgrading, installing, and configuring systems and hardware, and monitoring system performance.
- Ensures user accessibility, stability and security of all company PC systems; investigate, troubleshoot, research, and determine root cause for system-related issues affecting workstation hardware and desktop application performance and usability.
- Research tools and processes to identify usage and capacity troubles as they develop and assist in developing long-range plans to address problems.
- Provide assistance, guidance, recommendations, strategy, and industry best practices for large, enterprise-scale migration of desktop systems utilizing a variety of tools & techniques.
- Assist Enterprise Desktop Administrator in development of software packages, sequencing, for automated software distribution and installation, including Microsoft operating system, applications, drivers and security updates.
- Provide third level support for escalated desktop problems including hardware, operating system, and software applications.
- Document and communicate procedures, configurations, and standards.
- Manage service requests and customer expectations in alignment with defined service and operational level agreements.
- Bachelor’s degree and five years’ experience in related field with three to five years of hands-on experience administering and supporting large environments of more than 5,000 desktops. Equivalent combination of education, training, and relevant experience may be considered in place of these requirements. A+, MCP, MCSA, MCDST, MCSE, among certifications preferred
- Strong background in scripting and desktop engineering, working with desktop management tools including Microsoft SCCM to build and maintain images. Expert knowledge of desktop and mobile operating systems and hardware.
- Working knowledge of network protocols and topology including experience using mobile and wireless. Knowledge and experience with best practices / standards: ITIL, COBIT, or ISO 27001.
- Highly motivated individual with excellent organizational skills, detail oriented, with the ability to stay on top of a variety of commitments and deadlines; must be able to work independently and as a team to maintain workload, and report on problems or progress in a timely manner.
- Excellent communication, planning, analysis and process flow skills. Knowledge of and ability to use and influence organization’s policies, standards, and procedures guiding organizational processes.
- The ability to be flexible with others, to display tact and diplomacy, and to maintain a high degree of confidentiality. Must be a team player with positive, can-do attitude.
- Must be willing and able to travel up to 10%.
